Participation and Democracy

The three countries of the South Caucasus have reached different stages of social transformation since gaining independence from the Soviet Union. In all three countries, the development of participatory mechanisms and an inclusive and pluralistic political culture are prerequisites for further democratization. Further to reaching these goals the FES provides civic education, capacity building and analytical tools. The FES strengthens and supports civil society actors with a strong focus on the regions and progressive actors on the center-left of the political spectrum.
